Another dead computer!?! Oh boy…

This past Tuesday, my wife took up her Acer notebook, put it on her lap, opened it up, then pressed the power button. Then… nothing. Nothing happened!?! I was like, “huh?” Our two year old Acer Aspire notebook, just stopped working, for no apparent reason. So, I took out the battery, unplugged it, and press and held the power button for about 30 seconds to reset the laptop. I plugged the power cable to it, pressed the power button, and… nothing! I reset it again, then placed in the battery, then the power button. Surprisingly, the battery button came on to indicate that it was charging. So, I was hopeful. However, as soon as I pressed the power button, the power light flashed, and as it came off, the battery light came off as well. I suspect that there is come kind of short it the circuitry. The motherboard seems dead. But why?

I just can’t figure out why it didn’t work. I decided to take the laptop apart. I took apart everything to see if there was any visible sign of circuitry damage on the IC boards. But there was none. So, I put the laptop back together, and it still exhibits the same behavior. It is just not working. Being as old as it is, I think it is off warranty. Oh well, I can’t believe it. I just bought my Macbook Pro for me to use, since my desktop died in December last year, and now my wife’s laptop died. What else can I do?

Maybe I can buy an inexpensive Netbook for her to use. We’ll see what the future holds.
