Back to work tomorrow!

Good Night everyone… well, it’s night in Antigua, where I am living at the moment. I should be going back to work tomorrow. As to why I wasn’t at work today, well… today is Easter Monday, and in Antigua, Good Friday (last week Friday) and Easter Monday are both public holidays. The only addition to that was that I was sick all last week. I got a sick leave from the doctor that permitted me to be away from work. It has been pretty rough, being sick since last week. I only started to feel better by about Friday or so. Although, on Friday, I still had some nasal congestion, and a slight sore throat.

For most of last week, I had a fever, nasal congestion, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, and general lethargy. I rested most of the week, had lots of fluid, took a host of vitamins, and over the counter medications to combat the symptoms, and my wife prescribed me some antibiotics. So far, I am doing better. I should be able to tackle work tomorrow. So, I’m feeling positive about that.

This past weekend was interesting. I am glad was well enough that by Friday, I was able to preach at the annual Good Friday conference at church. Yes, I preach. I preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I minister the Word of God at my local church. For those of you wondering if I am a pastor or anything like that, I am not. I am a Christian, and I attend Shiloh Gospel Hall, a Christian Brethren Assembly in Antigua. Generally, the Brethren churches encourage young men who are capable of preaching to preach the Word of God. For me, it’s not really a big deal, since I see it as sharing the Bible with an audience, and Jesus did mandate us to preach to everyone.

Oh, and just in case you are wondering, I do not get paid for preaching. I do it if I am asked, and out of my own sense of responsibility and love for God and making His word be known. As part of my responsibilities at church, I also teach a Sunday School class to children from ages 5 to 14, almost every Sunday afternoon. I guess you could see that as community service. But, however you see it, it is something that I enjoy, and I focus a lot of sharing the love of God, and living right in this life.

The message that I brought on Friday was about “Marriage: God’s View” . My focus was that marriage is a reflection of Christ and the Church and how husbands and wives should relate to each other by mimicking Christ and the Church in order to have a successful marriage. I also included points about how singles can make the right decisions to ensure that their future marriage can be successful and reflect Christ’s relationship with the Church. I am thinking of writing a post or a page about the topic. So, when I do, I will link this post to it. I really enjoyed preaching on Friday. I think it was the longest I had ever preached for, which was 1 hour and 5 minutes. Unfortunately, my sermon was not recorded, but I will have to recount its contents so that I am share it with you all.

As I mentioned before, my sermon was not based on my experience, but solely from the Holy Bible. I always believe that anyone who preaches, first preaches to himself then to others. The messenger is always first accountable, in my opinion.

Anyways, it’s getting late. I was going to post this earlier, but I spoke to my brother on skype for almost an hour. I am going to get some rest now. I took some theraflu earlier to try to control the nasal congestion. Anyways, have a good night, everyone.

God bless!
